This surge was observed during a broad sell-off of altcoins, although BTC.D has since retreated to 56.97%. Notably, the total market capitalization of altcoins, excluding Ethereum, witnessed a dramatic decline, decreasing by 10.76% over the last 24 hours. The downturn was most pronounced for some altcoins, which experienced losses as severe as 17%, bringing the total market cap of this segment down to $1.01 trillion.
