World Network Pilots World ID Passport Credential Across 4 Nations

According to the official blog, the digital identity project World Network (formerly Worldcoin), supported by Sam Altman, announced that the World ID Passport Credential is currently being piloted in selected countries such as Chile, Colombia, Malaysia and South Korea.

World is Rolling out World ID Passport Credential

The World ID Passport Credential will improve the ease of use for global users of the World Network by enabling widespread application of World ID, as well as facilitating application for additional WLD tokens where eligibility is granted.

The function lets users link their valid identity documents, initially NFC-enabled passports, to World ID without sharing any information with TFH, the World Foundation, or any third party.

All information is securely stored on their device and only on that device. They can then use the anonymization infrastructure provided by the World ID protocol to privately prove their identity online, not just their human attributes and uniqueness. The World Foundation is providing WLD tokens to individuals with valid World ID Passport Credentials.

Future Expansion Planned for Global Access

The pilot project launches for iOS users from Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, and South Korea who currently reside in these countries and have NFC-enabled passports. Support for Android devices will follow soon, while access to credentials will expand to more countries in the near future.

Currently, anyone who has verified their World ID via an eligible Orb device is able to receive a total of around 51.69 WLD. Users who have added a Verified Passport Credential can also receive an additional amount of WLD regardless of whether they have verified their World ID via Orb or not. According to the project, the total WLD available for rewards will decrease over time.
