The meme token launched by Andrew Tate had a pump followed by a fast crash. The token was also affected by the news of the recent email hack of Tate’s Online University.
Andrew Tate attempted to save his DADDY meme token, by injecting more SOL to pump the price. Unfortunately, DADDY was weighed down by the news of the hacked Online University. The token slid from a peak of $0.14 to $0.08, following a short-term pump.
The DADDY token is no stranger to volatility, with smaller pumps happening every few days, followed by additional slides. The DADDY token returned to its baseline level, with a market capitalization of just $52M. The DADDY token, once a staple of the meme space, lags behind other trending assets with more active communities.
The most recent pump was a self-admitted deliberate move on the side of Tate. The token’s creator, who at one point held up to 40% of the supply, injected another 400 SOL in buy orders. That inflow was not enough to keep DADDY afloat for long, due to the token’s volatile performance.
DADDY remains one of the last celebrity tokens to be actively promoted. DADDY has since been displaced by other types of memes, including cults, PolitiFi tokens, and AI tokens. Tate, however, has claimed he would support the token and continue to shill and pump the price. The end goal is a $1B valuation, a feat achieved by only up to a dozen memes, and only during market rallies.
In the past few months, Tate also joined as a meme token influencer, endorsing a small selection of assets. Most of those tokens remained volatile and ended up with deep losses. Some of the known addresses of Tate are also selling Solana meme holdings in exchange for additional SOL liquidity.
Tate is focused more on the Solana ecosystem, with more than $1.5M in Solana tokens. The known public addresses of Tate also contain Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum and other tokens and native assets. As an early Solana adopter at prices as low as $9, SOL is Tate’s biggest holding. However, the $1.5M in liquidity may be far from enough to support DADDY or other tokens, allowing only limited short-term pumps that get eaten by other traders.
Tate continues to promote the DADDY token to the crypto community, despite still being investigated on allegations of human trafficking, money laundering, and other crimes. He keeps a high profile and participates in the Solana ecosystem, also boosting other meme tokens, despite being in house arrest in Romania since August 2024.
Despite recent allegations, the trial against Tate has not stopped. However, a Romanian court voted to remove some of the presented evidence, and gave the prosecution until November 24 to decide if they would further pursue the case.
Online University hack exposes user, site data
The DADDY price slide followed another unfavorable event for Tate. The Online University, a closed group charging fees for online money-making tricks, got hacked. The exploit leaked emails, affecting up to 794K registered users. Users on the platform got their screen names grabbed, in addition to 324,382 unique emails of banned users.
A source close to the hack claimed the site was ‘hillariously insecure’, inviting hacktivists to post emojis and images. All hacked email addresses have been added to Have I Been Pwned, potentially holding the addresses of teenager subscribers, one of the main targets for Tate’s business.
Online University and the Real World room offered monthly subscriptions in exchange for tips, chats and mentoring, focusing on Tate’s brand of hyper-masculinity, financial independence and a conservative slant that made the site a target for hacktivists.
The exploit also exposed 891,846 user devices, revealing a link to user IDs, as well as the platform they used to access Tate’s university. Millions of messages from the past two years were also leaked. The hacktivists flooded Tate’s site and chatroom with feminist and LGBTQ+ images, in addition to disrupting a live session.
