Stripe and Circle’s USDC integrate into Aptos ecosystem

Key Takeaways

  • Aptos introduces Circle’s native USDC and Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, enabling seamless transactions across eight major blockchains.
  • Stripe’s integration will streamline fiat-to-USDC conversions on the Aptos network, enhancing global payment flows.

Circle and Stripe are expanding their services to the Aptos blockchain network, with Circle’s USDC stablecoin and Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) set to launch natively on the platform.

The integration will enable Aptos users to transfer USDC across eight major blockchains, including Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, and Solana, creating over 72 transaction pathways for cross-chain operations.

Native USDC on Aptos, issued by Circle, will replace the current Ethereum-bridged USDC, which currently has more than $140 million in circulation on Aptos.

Bridge providers like Stargate, built on LayerZero, will facilitate the transition from bridged USDC to native USDC.

Stripe’s payment services will provide fiat on-ramp capabilities for the Aptos network, allowing users to convert fiat currencies directly into USDC through Aptos-compatible wallets.

The integration aims to streamline merchant pay-ins and payouts while connecting traditional finance with blockchain technology.

John Egan, head of crypto at Stripe, explained that supporting the Aptos blockchain in Stripe’s crypto products expands access for both consumers and merchants to more efficient global fund flows using stablecoins.

The announcement follows Stripe’s recent $1.1 billion acquisition of stablecoin payment firm Bridge to enhance its blockchain capabilities for global payments.
