Bandai Namco announced the game as a “social deduction game of life and death for up to 10 players.” In this game, the players will be divided into two teams, Team L and Team Kira. In trailer of the game shows the little figurines used by Near at the end of the anime and manga. The gameplay mechanics use the same symbolic imagery that Near uses to represent the key players in his strategic planning for investigations.
Each player will be taking on the role of a toy-like figurine on the map and be a part of either Team Kira or Team L.
Death Note: Killer Within has the likeness of Among Us
A detailed blog on Playstation’s website shared that each figurine has its own role and traits which impact how the player will interact with others and carry on the game’s objective. This allows the players various strategic options based on their abilities and strengths.
The “randomized scenarios” will make each round unique which will make players adapt to the “high-stakes game of tactics”
Players will collect clues and complete the task in what is called the “Action Phase” and then hold a meeting in the “Meeting Phase” to find out who is Kira. If Kira is found and eliminated before L then Team L will win.
Furthermore, a player who takes the role of Kira will start by eliminating the “NPCs and other players”. However, there is a catch. To “judge” another player, Kira must be aware of the player’s real name.
They can find it out behind their ID which is obtained by staying near to the target stealthily. Attracting suspicion could end up in getting one “questioned during the Meeting Phase”.
The game follows the Among Us based on its core objective which is to find out the killer. However, the collaboration with Death Note gives this game a unique edge since the fanbase of the anime series and manga is huge. Players will be able to experience the shortly within a week.
