The Free Republic of Liberland—a pro-freedom, blockchain-based nation—opened its Dubai office on October 26.
KEY Difference Labs, the event host and location of the office, welcomed supporters of Web3, decentralized governance, and self-sovereignty at exactly 5PM in Dubai.
Gideon Greaves, Managing Director of KEY Difference, kicked off the ceremony. Guests included local crypto advocates, tech executives, Liberland passport holders, and a mix of curious newcomers.
Some attendees had questions about Liberland’s residency possibilities and how to join the movement.
KEY on freedom and blockchain
Karnika E. Yashwant, widely known as Mr. KEY and the founder/CEO of KEY Difference, gave the keynote. He shared how he entered Web3 in 2013, drawn by Bitcoin’s promise of freedom and autonomy. He said:
“Bitcoin represents freedom and choice. I’ve spent over a decade in this space because it’s about giving people control over their lives.”
KEY compared Liberland’s vision to Bitcoin, where freedom and choice lead the way. He explained that Liberland isn’t about personal gains for its supporters but is about supporting an idea of liberty with real-world impact.
“People today are treated like slaves for governments,” KEY said. He added that Liberland’s goal is to change this, although he acknowledged that it’s a slow, challenging process. “But big things happen if you keep pushing,” he believes.
Following KEY’s address, Sameula Davidova, Liberland’s Press Secretary, took the stage to outline the nation’s goals and explain how supporters can join the movement.
Davidova described Liberland as a community that allows people to engage directly in governance with minimal government interference, urging people to get involved in building the vision of a free state from the ground up.
The event was packed with top names in crypto and tech, including executives from Polytrade, DMCC, and Binance. Manta’s co-founder Kenny Li also joined, reflecting Liberland’s reach within Web3’s core community.
Dubai’s Web3 scene clearly showed interest, and the office is set to become a local hub for Liberland’s supporters.
Petr Krovina, Liberland’s Chief of Staff and a close advisor to Liberland’s President, attended the event as well and answered questions about living in Liberland, potential citizenship, and what joining the Liberland community might involve.
While attendees included curious diplomats and even possible members from royal families, KEY focused on the impact of Dubai’s new Liberland office.
It will serve as a place for residents to connect with Liberland, pick up flags and merchandise, and engage in future community activities.
