There Is a New Message From Peter Todd, Alleged Satoshi Nakamoto

Canadian software developer Peter Todd has gone into hiding following the release of an HBO documentary claiming he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious founder of Bitcoin.

A new documentary called Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, directed by filmmaker Cullen Hoback, has stirred controversy by featuring Todd as the figure behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency.

The documentary’s release on October 8 thrust Todd into the center of the ongoing Satoshi mystery. While allegations linking Todd to the creation of Bitcoin have been made before, this latest claim has been damaging to the developer. Facing increased scrutiny and media attention, Todd has opted to withdraw from public life.

Todd expressed his disappointment in an email and reiterated his denial of being Satoshi. He accused the filmmakers of fabricating a story to get attention. “For the record, I am not Satoshi,” Todd said, adding, “It was obvious this was going to be a comedy.”

Cullen Hoback, known for his work to unmask the alleged QAnon figure, defended the documentary’s findings, saying: “While we certainly can’t say it’s Satoshi, I think we’ve made a very strong case.”

Since Bitcoin’s inception in 2008, speculation has continued over the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, who disappeared from public view in 2010. Todd now joins a long line of names linked to BTC’s origins, including prominent figures such as Hal Finney, Adam Back, and Nick Szabo.
