Developer Francis Li advocated for a substantial increase in blob capacity, proposing a target boost to 5 and a maximum to 8, in conjunction with enhancements to the network layer such as engine_getBlobsV1. Despite its advantages, deploying EIP 7742 entails extra work from both the Execution Layer and Consensus Layer teams, which could potentially hinder the timeline for Pectra’s release by approximately one to two months.
