Optimism Airdrops 10.3 Million OP Tokens

Optimism (OP), a prominent Layer 2 blockchain, has executed its fifth AirDrop, granting 10.3 million OP tokens, valued at around $16 million, to approximately 54,700 user addresses. This initiative primarily aims to reward participants who have actively engaged with the Superchain ecosystem, a network framework developed via OP Stack.

How Were Active Users Selected?

For this latest AirDrop, Optimism specifically selected users from networks including OP Mainnet, Base, and several others. Wallets that interacted with a minimum of 20 different contracts within Superchain between March 15 and September 15, 2024, were eligible for the token distribution. Users have until February 13, 2025, to claim their rewards.

What New Bonus Conditions Apply?

In a departure from previous distributions, additional bonus criteria have been introduced. Users can enhance their rewards by transferring a specified number of OP tokens or engaging with at least seven different networks in Superchain.

Optimism has distributed a total of over 265 million OP tokens across five AirDrops, with around 550 million OP tokens still earmarked for future distributions. Since its first AirDrop on May 31, 2022, subsequent distributions have taken place, with the last one in February 2024.
