OpenAI Secures $6.6 Billion Funding Round

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has raised $6.6 billion from investors including Microsoft, Nvidia, Thrive Capital, and Khosla Ventures, potentially valuing the company at $157 billion. The funding, in convertible debt, aligns with OpenAI’s restructuring efforts following the recent departure of CTO Mira Murati. Thrive Capital invested $1.2 billion, with an option for an additional $1 billion next year contingent on revenue targets. OpenAI anticipates generating $3.6 billion in revenue this year, with projections of $11.6 billion next year, as it continues to pursue advancements in artificial general intelligence (AGI).
