Solana Labs’ phone design subsidiary, Solana Mobile, plans to release its second crypto phone in 2025, the company stated Thursday at the Token 2049 conference.
The upcoming handheld, dubbed Seeker, will be a significant hardware upgrade over Solana’s first mobile phone, with a better battery, a stronger camera, and a lighter design than the Saga, according to Emmet Hollyer, who oversees Solana Labs’ phone-making project.

Solana Mobile has already raked up $70 million in preorders for its second mobile device. Emmett Hollyer says, “More than half of our order volume is coming from Asia-Pacific countries, a region in which we previously could not sell phones.”
Its official website has offered an early founder price of $450 for Solana Seeker presales that end on September 21, 2024.
Seeker comes preloaded with the Solana dApp store 2.0, which includes a new rewards tracker and enhanced app discoverability. This encompasses payments, DeFi, DePIN, NFTs, AI, and gaming. It is planned to operate with zero fees and crypto-friendly policies.
Its features include a massive 6.36-inch display, 128GB of storage, 8GB of memory, and two cameras. The main one is a 108MP camera, whereas the ‘selfie’ camera has 32 megapixels. Lastly, it has various Web3 features. For example, you can double-tap to send transactions.
Seeker is Solana’s second major gamble on a product line that was once on the verge of failure. Solana’s first Saga phone was priced over $1,000 at the time of launch but was eventually reduced to $599. This was primarily owing to an initial inability to gain traction.
One of the Saga’s major appeals as a smartphone alternative to the iPhone and off-the-shelf Androids was its introduction of an independent app store known as the dApp store.
In addition, developers can develop highly tailored crypto apps and launch them through the dapp store, avoiding the exorbitant costs associated with Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
