WazirX Hacker Move $11M to Tornado & Other Hack

The blockchain security firm PeckShield has reported that the WazirX hacker address has transferred 4,600 ETH worth $11M to Tornado Cash so far, among other laundering via Tornado. PeckShield had previously revealed that the exploiter -labeled address had transferred 5K $ETH which is worth $12M to a new address 0x2D29…a968 before its Tornado move.

This week has seen a lot of hack money laundered via Tornado.

According to Lookonchain monitoring, “3 hacker addresses have deposited a total of 17,800 ETH which is worth $42.7 Million into Tornado Cash in the past 3 days, including: Penpie hacker deposited 9,600 ETH (about 23 million US dollars) into Tornado Cash. WazirX hacker deposited 7,200 ETH (about 17.3 million US dollars) into Tornado Cash. The hacker who stole $42 million in assets from Fenbushi Capital founder Shen Bo deposited 1,000 ETH (about 2.4 million US dollars) into Tornado Cash.”

PeckShield also unearthed a strange message of “appreciation” between Euler Finance exploiter and Penpie hacker. The former appreciated Penpie hacker ‘bro’ saying that he did a good job pulling off a never-seen-before-hack like this and ‘keeping all the money’.

Past few weeks have already witnessed a lot of crypto hacks. While some several of them (including Penpie hack) drained huge losses, others including the hacking of Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law and daughter’s X account were solely used to promote a token purportedly tied to World Liberty Financial. Amidst these serious hacks, Near Protocol pulled off a fake hack marketing gimmick to promote its hackathon.
