• A new video of Tigran Gambaryan’s declining health has sparked widespread outrage.
  • Binance CEO Richard Teng calls Gambaryan’s treatment inhumane and demands his release.

A new video circulating on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) shows disturbing footage of Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s head of crime compliance, who is currently imprisoned in Nigeria. The video has sparked significant outrage and calls for his release, especially as his health reportedly worsens.

Currently, Gambaryan’s health has deteriorated and the video leaked, leading Binance CEO Richard Teng to demand his immediate release for medical treatment and to be with his family. In a post on X, Teng condemned the “inhumane treatment” Gambaryan is enduring and urged for his release.

Gambaryan’s Court Appearance and Detention Details

The video circulating follows Gambaryan, who appeared in court on September 2 for an expedited trial. The Binance executive was taken into custody in Nigeria in February 2024 on suspicion of money laundering. These allegations involve $34 million related to Binance’s operations in Nigeria.

Gambaryan’s detention related to Binance’s activities in Nigeria has drawn increased calls for his release as his six-month captivity continues. Further, the executive’s family is concerned about his rapidly declining health and urges his prompt release.

Following that, Tigran’s attorney has requested bail, but the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opposed the motion, claiming that he is not as ill as stated, despite court-submitted health records indicating he needs surgery. The court will review the bail request on September 4.
