The crypto gaming sensation Hamster Kombat has achieved a remarkable milestone, amassing over 35.2 million subscribers on its YouTube channel since its inception on May 24, 2024.
With nearly a billion views and a substantial following of 12.7 million on X (formerly Twitter), the game’s popularity is undeniable. However, this success story is not without its complications.
Hamster Kombat’s delayed airdrop plan
Hamster Kombat’s rapid ascent in the social media realm is nothing short of spectacular. The channel’s growth rate even briefly held the record for the fastest to reach 10 million subscribers on YouTube, a title only recently surpassed by soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
This meteoric rise has undoubtedly contributed to the intense anticipation surrounding the game’s HMSTR token airdrop.
However, the path to launching the HMSTR token has been fraught with challenges. Initially scheduled for late July 2024, the airdrop has faced multiple delays, with the latest projections pointing to September 2024.
Technical issues with the TON blockchain, including concerns about network congestion, have been cited as primary reasons for the postponement.
Adding to the complexity are internal conflicts that have recently come to light. A public dispute between the game’s leadership and key investor AD.RU has raised questions about profit sharing and project ownership.
The departure of Nikita Anuriev, the former marketing director, citing disagreements over profit distribution, has further fueled uncertainty.
These internal struggles have had a tangible impact on the project’s momentum. The pre-market value of the HMSTR token has reportedly dropped by over 50% from its peak, reflecting growing skepticism within the community. Despite these setbacks, the Hamster Kombat team maintains an optimistic outlook.
