El Salvador to Train 80,000 Government Employees on Bitcoin

El Salvador has launched a program to educate its government workforce on Bitcoin. The National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) of El Salvador is set to provide Bitcoin instruction and certifications to 80,000 public servants, marking a major step in the country’s crypto-friendly policy.

The comprehensive training program, dubbed “Certification in Public Administration 1,” consists of 160 hours of virtual and asynchronous learning. Divided into seven modules, the curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from the strategic management of Bitcoin to the public policies surrounding its use as legal tender in the country.

Stacy Herbert, director of ONBTC, envisions this initiative as having a “compounding effect” on El Salvador’s Bitcoin-driven economy. Herbert hints at more educational projects in the pipeline, emphasizing the long-term commitment to the nation’s Bitcoin and tech policy.

This certification drive is being conducted by the Higher School of Innovation in Public Administration (ESIAP), an institution inaugurated by President Nayib Bukele in August 2021.

The ONBTC states that the curriculum is specifically designed to “strengthen the standard of excellence in governance and public administration in El Salvador.”

El Salvador’s pioneering approach to Bitcoin adoption has not gone unnoticed. Argentina, facing its own economic challenges, has begun working with El Salvador to learn from its cryptocurrency experience.

El Salvador continues to lead the charge in governmental Bitcoin adoption. The success of this massive educational initiative could set a precedent for other countries considering similar moves.
