WazirX has thanked the crypto community for their continued patience and support. According to official communication, the maintenance is intended “to restore balances of all accounts and undo all trades made on the WazirX platform after the stoppage of withdrawals.”
As much as this is a good plan, users are not happy with the continued delay. One user on X states “The exchange is closed for almost 1 month. I request you to return the full funds to users and don’t effect other users to create balanced portfolio. Please act quickly and ensure the safety of the remaining assets which you have migrated to other multisig wallets.”
Other users have accused the exchange of trying to scam them. Another user on X says, “WazirX Team, what maintenance is left and what maintenance is left for you to do? Do you intend to run away from India? Anyway, you have troubled your Indian users a lot. If you stay in India, you will have to pay the funds.”
The user asks for clarification, adding, “You should know this very well: if you run away from India then nothing can be done, so till when will you be paying the users’ funds while staying in India, tell us quickly.”
The hackers have yet to be caught. However, in order to avoid having the assets frozen or blacklisted, the attacker transferred approximately $150 million in altcoins into Ether.
