While there were many hacking incidents in the cryptocurrency market in 2023, investors and platforms suffered great losses.
The situation did not change in 2024. At this point, the news of the latest hacking incident came from Bill Lou, co-founder and CEO of the decentralized wallet Nest.
Lou, who said that he was hacked from account
While trying to claim the LFG airdrop, Lou warned investors, stating that he was the victim of a phishing attack.
“I just lost $125k in stETH trying to claim the LFG airdrop. I also co-founded a wallet startup trying to improve wallet security…
I can’t believe this is happening, I’ve always been very careful. I saw the article guide to the airdrop and followed the link, I didn’t even question it….
Since I was installing a test version, I was using Metamask instead of Nest Wallet. I don’t want to sound like an asshole promoting his own product, but our wallet would catch the attacker.
I wish I hadn’t used METAMASK. “This wouldn’t have happened if I had used our own wallet.”
I’m devastated guys…
I just got scammed out of $125k of stEth while trying to claim the $LFG airdrop. And I’m a fking founder of a wallet startup that’s trying to improve wallet security…
