Jung Kook is all over the Billboard charts this week following the release of his debut solo full-length, Golden. The BTS singer scores his first placement on the albums chart, while the set’s newest single has become not only a win for him in America but all around the world.
“Standing Next To You,” the latest single from Golden, has been named the biggest song in the world. The track debuts atop the Billboard Global 200, the chart company’s namesake ranking of the most-consumed individual tunes in the world, based on a methodology that combines streams and sales.
The tune arrives at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 thanks to impressive consumption figures, but the tune performed best when it comes to pure purchases. “Standing Next To You” sold 121,000 copies globally, according to Billboard. That sum includes all the many versions of the cut that were made available, which include remixes labeled with descriptors like Future Funk, Holiday, and Slow Jam.
“Standing Next To You” also performed incredibly well on streaming platforms of all kinds. The track opens with 81.6 million plays on sites like Spotify in its debut tracking frame.
Jung Kook has now reached the summit on the Billboard Global 200 three times as a solo artist. All three of the singles spun off of Golden—”Seven” with Latto, “3D” with Jack Harlow, and now “Standing Next To You”—have spent time at No. 1 on the tally. As a member of BTS, he accrued another seven leaders.
As “Standing Next To You” rules, Jung Kook also sits in the runner-up rung. “Seven” is still going strong, settling at No. 2 this frame, which is impressive, as the song has been out for months now.
