Jung Kook (Big Hit Music)
Jung Kook is back at No. 1 on Billboard’s chart that focuses on sales yet again, proving that whenever he releases something new, his massive fan base shows up to support it. With another leader to his name, the BTS singer ties with a very familiar face for an important all-time record.
“Too Much” opens at No. 1 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling individual tracks in America each week. The tune is fronted by Australian pop singer The Kid Laroi and serves as one of the latest singles from his forthcoming album. Jung Kook is featured on the tune, as is U.K. rapper Central Cee.
According to data shared by Luminate, “Too Much” opens at No. 1 with a little more than 8,100 copies sold.
Jung Cook collects his fourth No. 1 hit on the Digital Song Sales chart this week as “Too Much” arrives in first place. With one more leader included in his discography, he is now tied with his BTS bandmate Jimin for the most champions among K-pop solo artists. One more ruler means Jung Kook breaks his tie with another one of his bandmates, Suga.
The BTS superstar first hit No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart just last year. He joined pop singer Charlie Puth on the single “Left and Right,” which became a breakout smash for Jung Kook on his own and worked its way to the highest spot on the sales ranking. He then returned to the summit before the end of the year with his own song “Dreamers.”
So far in 2023, Jung Kook has doubled his total count of champions on the tally as both “Too Much” and his single “3D” with rapper Jack Harlow have both spent time atop the list. He also came close to snagging another leader with “Seven,” which reached the top spot on the Hot 100, but never the Digital Song Sales list.
Jung Kook and Jimin may be tied for the most No. 1 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart when looking only at solo musicians from South Korea, but they drop slightly when all acts are included. The band that made them famous, BTS, is in a very distant first place. The group has so far snagged a dozen chart-toppers, which not only makes them the most successful name when looking at South Korean artists, but the best-performing group of all time when looking at No. 1 counts.
