BlackRock has announced that it will be providing initial funding for its Bitcoin ETF in October. This move, known as “seeding”, usually involves a bank or broker dealer purchasing a few creation units in exchange for ETF shares, allowing trading to begin on Day One. While the amount of money being provided for the funding has not been disclosed, seeding is typically not a significant amount but enough to get the ETF started. The news comes in the wake of BlackRock’s recently filed amendment for a spot Bitcoin ETF, adding to the growing number of applications for such products.
