The Blockchain Center, an independent international non-profit research laboratory that supports talent development in the blockchain industry through education globally, and Binance Academy, the open-access blockchain and cryptocurrency learning hub of Binance, disclosed today that their blockchain educational program will now be broadened globally under the name of The Global University Outreach Program. With a primary emphasis on blockchain engineering and compliance, the program was first introduced at colleges in Kazakhstan. It now seeks to include Web3 teaching into the curriculum of over 200 institutions across more than 50 countries.
Building on the first launch, Blockchain Center will work with Binance Academy to teach over 1,000 university faculty members in a specific field. The program’s creation of a thorough academic knowledge base is another important objective. This will make it easier to include blockchain engineering and compliance courses into already-existing educational programs. By 2026, it is anticipated that the effort would have educated more than a million pupils.
“Blockchain Center’s goal is to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology by stimulating the growth of the human capital in the industry. We are proud of our groundbreaking educational initiative, which will significantly enhance talent development in the industry. The project offers a robust platform for aspiring professionals to explore, experiment, and innovate new solutions in the field,” said Aidana Kaskyrbek, CEO and founder of the Blockchain Center.
The initiative comprises of the Blockchain Engineering and Blockchain Compliance teaching programs. With the goal of equipping students with the essential information and abilities required to be successful blockchain engineers, the Blockchain Engineering track exposes students to the fundamental concepts in distributed ledger technology. The 20-week course guarantees a comprehensive grasp of blockchain development, encompassing Web3, Solidity, and BNB Chain basics. The 13-week Blockchain Compliance program aims to provide participants a thorough grasp of the challenges and possibilities that arise when blockchain technology and regulatory law converge. It examines legal issues, discusses legal complexities, and offers insights into possible future governance structures for digital assets while covering the fundamental features of blockchain compliance.
The Blockchain Center uses a global system to choose participating countries from regions as diverse as Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. According to their assessments in the Cryptocurrency Adoption Index and the Frontier Technologies Readiness Index, universities that exhibit captivating participation with blockchain technology in areas that offer a supportive socio-economic framework for its adoption can be found using this methodology. Prioritizing conditions conducive to free academic research and idea exchange also takes into account a nation’s position on the Academic Freedom Index.
By using its extensive network of educational institutions and instructors throughout the world, Binance Academy plays a critical role in fostering the expansion of the Global University Outreach Program. By drawing on its wide network of industry experts and thought leaders, Binance Academy will offer guest lectures to give students a more comprehensive learning opportunity.
“In the rapidly changing world of digital finance, blockchain education is a key pillar for driving transformation,” said Yi He, co-founder of Binance. “Through this educational initiative, Binance Academy and Blockchain Center will cultivate a new generation of skillful talents poised to propel our industry forward and ignite innovation. Let’s keep building.”
The Global University Outreach Program is the result of a successful pilot project in Kazakhstan that was first introduced in December 2022 and which became the biggest academic blockchain effort in the world by incorporating the principles of blockchain into the academic curriculum of 22 institutions throughout the country. The Blockchain Center and Binance Academy teamed together to provide professional training for educators. More than 300 instructors were educated via the initiative, and 4,000 Kazakh pupils started their blockchain studies this autumn.
