WWE Raw Winners And Grades

Seth Rollins Opens WWE Raw

Seth Rollins did a great job selling his back as he struggled to get into the ring. The man was wearing a heavy fur coat, which couldn’t have been easy to walk around in, even with a good back.

Seth Rollins made sure to thank adrenaline during his acceptance speech.

I love when Seth Rollins tries to have serious moments despite how ridiculously he’s dressed. This week, while wearing a checkered fur coat, a fishnet shirt and shiny leather pants from the 2000’s, he removed his oversized sunglasses glasses and said “I wanna level with you guys…”

Drew McIntyre, who is slowly (and fantastically) turning heel, confronted Seth Rollins. I think Drew would be a great choice to dethrone Seth as a heel world champion.

Seth Rollins was once again attacked by the Judgment Day, and once again, Drew McIntyre couldn’t be bothered to save Seth.

Opening Segment Grade: B

Ivar Def. Kofi Kingston

Conspicuous by its absence in this Viking Rules match was the ringside boat.

There’s nothing like Ivar in all of wrestling. Give me Ivar over any dime-a-dozen gritty undersized prototype like Ilja Dragunov or Tyler Bate. Ivar is a world champion waiting to happen.

Xavier Woods and Valhalla made cameos in this match, and Valhalla was booked like she was Erik. She barelled toward Woods and he just barely got out of the way.

Ivar vs. Kofi Kingston Grade: A-

Nia Jax And Raquel Rodriguez Battle To A No Contest

This was a great big woman match, which included Raquel Rodriguez hitting a power bomb on Jax.

After the match, we got a glimpse of just how stacked this division is with dominant women. Rodriguez, Baszler, Ripley, Jax. It makes it even more baffling that this division has been dormant since Rhea Ripley won that title.

Shayna Baszler laid out Rhea Ripley, leading to a match next week between the two.

Nia Jax vs. Raquel Rodriguez Grade: B-

Sami And Kevin Confront Cody Rhodes And Jey Uso

Michael Cole asked Cody Rhodes about finishing the story, which inspired a Cody chant. Cole then asked the dumb question of if Cody Rhodes is content with winning the tag titles.

Michael Cole is becoming closer to Jason Lee with every interview. Cole said Rhodes “failed” trying to be WWE champion and may end up “just like his dad.” So messy.

Before Rhodes could answer Messy Cole’s line of questioning, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens came out—to Sami’s old, terrible theme. Can’t blame that one on Vince McMahon.

Rhodes and Jey Uso-Kevin and Sami Segment Grade: B+

Bronson Reed Def. Ricochet And Chad Gable

Ricochet brawled with Shinsuke Nakamura earlier, which brought out Nakamura to attack Ricochet during Ricochet’s entrance. Nakamura made sure to hit the GTS for good measure.

Before the match, Chad Gable made Otis chop him repeatedly to get ready for his eventual match with GUNTHER. Gable said “thank you!” after every chop.

Between Ricochet’s athleticism, Bronson Reed’s size and Chad Gable’s deceptive power, these three gelled together like pro wrestling soul mates.

Chad Gable built to a German Suplex on Bronson Reed, and when he finally hit it, it was something to behold.

Bronson Reed vultured Chad Gable’s win with an impressive Tsunami, setting up a Heel vs. Heel matchup between GUNTHER and Bronson Reed.

Bronson Reed vs. Ricochet and Chad Gable Grade: A-

Drew McIntyre Def. JD McDonagh

JD McDonagh’s theme music is almost as generic as Sami Zayn’s.

McIntyre continues to overplay his hand as a babyface, for now, as McDonagh used Judgment Day interference to work over McIntyre’s leg.

Drew McIntyre ultimately won this match and I wouldn’t mind if McIntyre stayed a tweener babyface. He’s been awesome.

During a backstage segment, DIY discussed their reunion before being interrupted by IMPERIUM.

Drew McIntyre vs. JD McDonagh Grade: B-

Becky Lynch Def. Tegan Nox

Natalya continues to position herself as an ally to Tegan Nox and Tegan is falling for it.

WWE used this segment, and the Becky Lynch segments prior, to promote Becky Lynch’s forthcoming book The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl.

Tegan Nox and Becky Lynch got a lot of time. More women’s wrestling is another sign that Triple H is at the helm.

Becky Lynch vs. Tegan Nox Grade: B

Cody Rhodes And Jey Uso Vs. Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn

Backstage, Jey Uso struggled with his lines during a faceoff with Drew McIntyre. Like, he was close to Sycho Sid territory.

WWE aired a great video package for Ludwig Kaiser, who hasn’t even left IMPERIUM yet. Kevin Owens looked on in disgust.

Cody Rhodes hit the Cody Cutter for a nearfall, and Wade Barrett said he can’t remember too many people kicking out of that move. I can’t ever remember Cody winning with that move.

Cody and Jey won after the “Cody 1D” on Kevin Owens. Parts of this match felt like it was competing with the WrestleMania Night 1 main event. All four worked their asses off in a meaningful Tag Team Championship match.

When given a chance to shake hands, Kevin Owens declined. Sami Zayn didn’t. Then KO begrudgingly shook hands with Cody and Jey.

Rhodes And Uso Vs. Zayn And Owens: A-
