On September 29, John E. Deaton thanked everyone on Twitter. He got the Defender of Freedom Award from the ICBLA. This award celebrated his hard work for XRP defendants. Their number grew from 12,600 to 75,000.

Why Ripple Faced the SEC

In 2020, Ripple had a problem. The SEC accused them of trading unregistered securities. This meant breaking some laws. Many individuals didn’t agree. They filed a Motion to Intervene to defend XRP. 12,600 investors wanted to become Defendants. This was a big deal. Judge Torres said it was a first.


ICBLA Gives Deaton $5,000 Prize

The ICBLA gave Deaton a $5,000 prize. They liked his work for the crypto world. He stood up to the SEC. He helped XRP holders in their fight against Ripple Labs. He did this for free.

The XRP community worked hard. They gave 3,600 Affidavits to the court. These papers had many details about Ripple’s deals. Judge Analisa Torres looked at them. She didn’t agree with the SEC.
