Astar has announced that it is partnering with Gelota, for it carries the potential to bring success to Astar in Web3. The objective here is to launch its first zkEVM by leveraging the capabilities of Gelato’s zkRaaS – zkRollup as a Service.
Astar has chosen Gelato out of all the available options as it commits to providing key services. These include offerings related to monitoring, hosting, and operating. Plus, the Web3 party infrastructure of Gelato will simultaneously be available, namely indexers, explorers, and oracles. The idea is to make sure that there is no complication when it comes to facing the issues of interoperability and functionality.
With this collaboration, Astar zkEVM has officially become the first project to use the functions of zkRaaS, a platform that Polygon has created on top of the zkEVM framework.
zkRaaS brings Account Abstraction and middleware services to the table on top of the familiarity developers will encounter during project formation. Users, too, will benefit as they will have a Web2-like experience. Overall, there are a total of five benefits that Gelato brings to Astar.
These are:-
- Security of Ethereum
- Low fees plus high transactions per second
- Smart contract automation is built into the ecosystem, along with access to data that is off-chain.
- Account abstraction for Web2-like user experience
- EVM compatibility for a seamless developer experience
Japanese enterprises will also benefit from the association between Astar and Gelato. They will have access to consensus protocols, multiple virtual machines, and layers. This will offer them the ability to scale their Web3 operations. Considering there is a sharp similarity to Web2, enterprises are less likely to face any hindrance in making the transition to the decentralized web.
Maarten Henskens, the Head of the Foundation at Astar Network, has said that the collaboration will help them achieve success in the Web3 sphere while also accelerating development with zkRaaS. They have acknowledged their past achievements with Gelato by remembering that the team has been instrumental in enhancing their resources and processes, which has saved a lot of resources. This can be measured by the fact that Maarten has highlighted the number of full-time senior engineers as three, which would otherwise have been used just for the blockchain infrastructure.
Astar is confident that the project will help Japanese enterprises leverage blockchain technology. It will act as a portal for enterprises with the goal of providing a reliable and more resilient infrastructure for the ecosystem that is constantly growing.
Moreover, Astar is looking to attract more audiences by accelerating the adoption of Web3.
zkRaaS will first be launched on a testnet. It is tentatively scheduled to go live in the fourth quarter. Once live, Astar will gain the capability to tap into the growing developer’s ecosystem of Ethereum.
