Solana Launches Developer Educator Program to Scale Up Development Workshops

Key takeaways

  • Solana’s new Developer Educator Program is designed to teach blockchain programmers how to host Solana workshops in the future
  • The program is being launched in an effort to decentralize the process of expanding the Solana ecosystem
  • Developers can earn $250 for hosting a Solana workshop and educating prospective programmers about the Solana ecosystem

Solana has been hosting developer workshops in recent months to help bring more blockchain specialists into the ecosystem. Now, to decentralize the process of hosting developer workshops, the project has announced that it will launch a Developer Educator Program.

The new program is designed to teach experienced Solana developers how to educate new programmers. Previously, Solana development workshops have covered how the Solana ecosystem can be used, how to program Rust-based smart contracts, and how to launch decentralized applications (dApps) on the Solana network.

Solana is offering $250 to developers for hosting a workshop in their area. Each workshop is designed to be an in-person event, which can help to provide hands-on support for programmers as they learn more about the network.

The new Developer Educator Program will last for 3 days between August 14th and August 17th. Prospective workshop hosts can join the program online and get up to speed with relevant course material, workshop pacing, and how to teach new developers about the ecosystem in the most effective way.

What is Solana?

Solana (SOL) is a high-performance blockchain network that first launched in 2017. SOL, the network’s native cryptocurrency, is used for transaction fees and staking to secure the blockchain infrastructure. The network supports the development of decentralized applications and smart contracts, which enables the creation of fungible and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), DeFi services, blockchain games, and many more custom use cases.

Solana uses a unique combination of consensus protocols, namely proof-of-stake and proof-of-history, to enable high transaction throughput and sub-second block finality. Solana can process up to 65,000 transactions per second, making it one of the fastest blockchains that currently exist.
