Taylor Swift Breaks The All-Time Record For The Most No. 1 Hits On Billboard’s Pop Radio Chart

Days ahead of the company refreshing its weekly charts, Billboard has given Taylor Swift and her legion of fans something to be excited about. The music magazine has announced that her single “Cruel Summer” is about to rise to No. 1 on one of its most competitive radio rankings, and when it does, she will break out of a tie with some of the biggest stars on the planet and become the most successful artist ever in the history of that specific tally.

Billboard has revealed that on next week’s Pop Airplay chart, Swift’s song “Cruel Summer” will soar to the summit, hitting No. 1 for the first time. Currently, the ranking of the tunes that reach the largest audience at pop radio in the U.S. is owned by Rema and Selena Gomez, whose single “Calm Down” returned to the peak position recently. “Cruel Summer” is down at No. 4 this frame, but in only a few days, it will jump to the top spot.

“Cruel Summer” isn’t just another hit for Swift, it’s a historic one, and it now holds a very special place in her discography. The cut is about to become her twelfth leader on the Pop Airplay chart, which is often filled with some of the biggest pop stars in the world.

With a dozen champions to her credit, Swift will break out of a tie with three other musicians and become the artist with the most No. 1s in the history of the list. Currently, she is on the same level as Maroon 5, Rihanna, and Katy Perry, as all four musical acts have sent 11 tracks to the top of the Pop Airplay chart.

Impressively, Swift only tied those three radio powerhouses very recently. Her other current single “Karma” hit No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart earlier this month. Now, she’s about to earn another leader in record time. “Cruel Summer” is actually Swift’s third No. 1 on the ranking this year. In addition to “Karma,” her other Midnights single “Anti-Hero” also spent time atop the tally earlier in 2023.

Swift first ruled the Pop Airplay chart in 2009 with “Love Story,” one of the singles that helped her prove she was a pop hitmaker as well as a country favorite. That early cut is her only No. 1 on the ranking not in the past decade, so she now averages about one leader per year.
