The 18-year-old James will continue his recovery at home, Merije Chukumerije, a cardiologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said in a statement first reported by the Athletic’s Shams Charania.
James was “fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable” upon his arrival at the hospital earlier this week, according to Chukumerije.
James’ medical staff is “hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”

“Everyone [is] doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love,” the elder James tweeted earlier Thursday afternoon, his first public comments following the incident.
