Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s chief legal officer has shrugged off concerns of a potential appeal by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to the recent landmark Ripple ruling. Alderoty believes that an appeal would lead the court to consolidate Ripple Labs’ partial victory over the regulator even further. On July 13, Judge Analisa Torres ruled that XRP was not a security when sold to the public on crypto exchanges but can be treated as a security when sold to institutional investors. The SEC hinted at appealing the split-decision ruling in the future, however, Alderoty believes that a court of appeals will affirm the decision made by Judge Torres.
