Anoma Foundation Launches Major Developments During EthCC Conference 2023

Anoma Foundation and Namada co-founder Adrian Brink announced the launch of new features on Anoma’s architecture, bringing intent to Ethereum and an incentivized RFC program for developers on the platform. Making the announcements during the Paris EthCC conference, Brink also launched its revolutionary ‘shielded swaps’ innovation to Cosmos-based exchange, Osmosis.

The latest innovations aim at enhancing effectiveness, introducing novel properties to the architecture, and providing users with new capabilities on the Ethereum blockchain. Brink spoke on his vision to add intents to Ethereum, which allows outsourcing the complexities of interacting with the blockchain while maintaining self-custody of assets. As the first-of-its-kind blockchain infrastructure, Anoma’s intents will provide new capabilities for Ethereum developers, including end-to-end decentralization, information flow control, and fully programmable intents.

Explaining the distinction of Anoma as an architecture rather than a blockchain, Adrian Brink shared with the main stage EthCC:

“This distinction allows existing applications to utilize Anoma’s properties to the extent they require. For example, rollups could employ Anoma’s counterparty discovery to decentralize their sequencer or use Anoma to generate intents for Ethereum.”

Secondly, Brink also announced the launch of incentivized Request for Comments (RFC) to boost and ease the development of Anoma’s architecture. The program aims to incentivize developers and researchers in Ethereum and other blockchains to review, analyze and provide feedback on Anoma’s architectural design. This helps build a bigger community of developers around Anoma while making improvements to the platform more collaborative and effective.

The RFC program will launch in the fall, with the Anoma Foundation “allocating a portion of the Anoma genesis distribution to contributors,” he added.

Lastly, Anoma’s partner, Namada, founded by part of Anoma’s team, will add its ‘shielded swaps’ privacy innovation to Cosmos exchange Osmosis allowing users to swap tokens anonymously, by making them indistinguishable from one another. The innovation allows chains that do not support privacy to add a privacy layer to swaps.

Using its novel incentivization mechanism – shielded set rewards – Namada rewards multi-chain users who contribute to “shielding transactions” to provide privacy to Namada users.
