Daryl Dixon’ Now Has A Release Date, New Photos

Dead City is about to wrap up its short, six episode first season, very much angling for a second. But before that happens, we have two more Walking Dead spin-offs to get through, and one of them finally has a release date.

That would The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. No fancy name just…this is a show about Daryl Dixon. It’s just been announced that the series will release on Sunday, September 10 at 9 PM, hitting AMC’s fall 2023 target. The show was finished before the Writers and Actors Strikes, so its one of those “in the bank” series that will go on without delays, given that it’s now under two months until its premiere.

The second series is Rick and Michonne’s spin-off that does not yet have an official title, but may be just be called that. It’s unclear whether the current strikes could have an affect on that series. If not, it should air next year, but actors like Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira or Andrew Lincoln cannot go out and promote the shows until the SAG strike is resolved.

The premiere of the Daryl Dixon spin-off is that Daryl Dixon is suddenly in France for…some reason. As in, how he got there, and why he’s there is a mystery, even to Daryl, as both he and audiences try to figure out why random French people would kidnap a gruff biker guy and haul him across the ocean in an era when planes or most boats shouldn’t even work anymore.

The news also comes with a number of new photos showing the supporting cast, where unlike Dead City, Daryl has no TWD veteran scene partner. There have been rumors that despite not headlining the series, that Melissa McBride’s Carol may appear at some point after all. And this sounds like a series that is going to try to have multiple seasons.

Among the photos we have exploding zombies, Daryl shooting arrows with uh, forest children, Daryl in a cool coat and a covered wagon, some nuns and a guy with a Mike Tyson face tattoo.

We have little idea what the premise of the story here is other than Daryl trying to figure out why he’s there and how to get back. But what I’m most curious about is if the Walking Dead: World Beyond teaser will be at play here, where it’s revealed that over in Europe, they have a variant of Fast Zombies, much more dangerous than the American shamblers (though those ones are starting to learn how to use weapons and open doors now). We’ll find out all the answers in two months, I suppose. See the rest of the photos below:
