The Walking Dead’s ‘Rick And Michonne’ Gets Far Away Release Date, Boring Title, Boring Poster

I have been enjoying The Walking Dead’s Maggie/Negan-starring spin-off Dead City, so much so that it has given me hope for the next two Walking Dead spin-offs, which at first seemed like a bad idea. But I do think the slimmed down cast and focus on specific characters has helped things, and so I am hoping to see similar quality from the Daryl Dixon and Rick and Michonne series.

The Rick and Michonne series just revealed a few things and they are uh, not much. AMC has announced the title of the show which is simply The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne, not opting for a Dead City-type title, as maybe they were worried that people wouldn’t get it was a Walking Dead series despite featuring the two most recognizable names in that series.

It also got a poster which is…this:

Very cool um, font, I guess. Actually it’s not even a good font. As you may recall, here is the synopsis for the series:

“Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were,” continues the logline. “Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living.

“Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”

This has always been pitched as a love story set amidst intense action, namely Rick seemingly escaping from the CRM where he’s been kept prisoner all this time, and Michonne helping to get him out. This was glimpsed in the final scenes of the main Walking Dead series which served a tease for this show.

As for a release date, whereas Daryl Dixon has a specific window, the Fall of 2023, Rick and Michonne (Sorry, The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne) only has a year, 2024. We do not know of any plans past these three shows, though I will say Dead City is very much angling for a second season, based on how it ends. I do not know if Daryl Dixon is supposed to be ongoing, but my guess would be yes. Rick and Michonne, however, seems to be pitched as a six-episode one-off.

We’ll get more info as time goes on hopefully, but until then, you can see where Dead City is heading. It’s good!
