More Cast Members Announced For Second Season Of ‘Squid Game’

has announced more of the cast for the second season of Squid Game, and some of the names might surprise you.

The first season of the series was released worldwide on Sept. 17, 2021 and quickly became Netflix’s most-watched series and the most-watched program in 94 countries. The first season also won several awards, including a Golden Globe for actor Oh Yeong-su, Screen Actor’s Guild awards for Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon, as well as 14 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with an Outstanding Actor Award presented to Lee Jung-jae.

Lee returns for the second season, along with Wi Ha-jun and Gong Yoo. They will be joined by Lee Byung-hun, Im Siwan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon and Yang Dong-geun. Today’s announcement added a few more names: Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won and Won Ji-an. It’s an interesting cast chosen from multiple backgrounds.

Park Gyu-young appeared in both seasons of the Netflix series Sweet Home and stars in the upcoming series Celebrity.

Jo Yu-ri is an actress and former member of the South Korean-Japanese girl group Iz*One.

Kang Ae-sim is a respected theater and musical actress, who also appeared in the dramas Be Melodramatic and Move to Heaven.

Lee David is known for his supporting roles in director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s film The Fortress and TV dramas such as Bring It On Ghost. He worked with Lee Jung-jae on the film Svaha: The Sixth Finger.

Lee Jin-uk starred in both seasons of Sweet Home and has appeared in multiple dramas and films, including appearing in one of director Hwang’s biggest films, Miss Granny.

Choi Seung-hyun, aka TOP, is a member of the k-pop band Big Bang and he’s starred in films such as Tazza: The Hidden Card and Commitment.

Roh Jae-won made his acting debut in 2021 and is gaining recognition through films like Missing Yoon and Ditto.

Won Ji-an debuted on the first season of the series D.P. and appears this year in the drama Heartbeat.

Squid Game Season 2 is produced by Firstman Studio. Filming is expected to start in July but it’s unlikely viewers will be able to see the second season until at least late 2024.
